  1. The Mother of Dungeons & Dragons and her Dragon

For the 2019 Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade ball we decided to mash up two of our favorite things - D&D and GOT! For more photos of the construction process, check out my Current Projects Blog!

  2. The Mother of Dungeons & Dragons and her Dragon

  3. Couture Keymaster and Gatekeeper

For the 2018 Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade ball, Bryan and I decided to put a fancy spin on an old favorite. I constructed his helmet, sourced our outfits, and made our Zuul masks! See more of the masks on the Fabrication and paint page.

  4. The Gentleman w/the Thistledown Hair and the Fae Forest Lady

For the 2017 Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball, Bryan wanted to be "The Gentleman With The Thistledown Hair" from the BBC miniseries "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell." I sourced the elements of his costume from Amazon and Ebay, and then altered them to work. (The pants were full length so I hemmed them and removed the modern-looking back pockets.) His jacket was a kelly-green steampunk tailed coat that I dyed to a forest green (which took multiple tries and more RIT dye than you can imagine.) Then I added in the leaves and made the leafy collar. I also styled his hair and makeup. To go along with his character, I decided to build myself a complimentary outfit. I wasn't a specific character from the series, just a female counterpoint to his outfit. Below are some of the process pictures from the creation of my wig, corset and skirts. See more of the corset and skirt construction on the Fabrication and paint page.

  5. The Gentleman with the Thistledown Hair

An uncanny likeness! The character from the BBC Series "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell" on the left, and Bryan on the right.

  6. The Gentleman w/the Thistledown Hair and the Fae Forest Lady

A candid of us fae forest folk.

  7. The Morrigan and her Celtic Warrior

For the 2015 Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball, Bryan and I went as Irish legends. I wanted to try my hand at craft foam armor, so I made this breastplate to look like armor made of raven feathers. See more of the armor construction on the Fabrication and paint page.

  8. The Morrigan

I made this breastplate out of a bra, craft foam, belt buckles, paint and a lot of dyed rooster feathers! I also made the spear out of a curtain rod and some cardboard, and the headpiece from branches and ravens that I hand-cut from craft foam. See more of the armor and headpiece construction on the Fabrication and paint page.

  9. Celtic Warrior

I pieced together this costume for my husband, utilizing his Irish National Tartan patterned kilt from Sportkilt.com, and did his hair and beard makeup.

  10. LOJ 2015 Crew

An Extreme Flower fairy, The Morrigan, The Celt, a forest fairy, and a pirate all go to a ball ...

  11. Extreme Forest Fairy

The completed look of the outfit I made for my friend who wanted to be "an explosion of flowers" for a masquerade ball we were going to. See my Fabrication and Paint page for construction photos of this costume.

  12. Corseted Pirate Lady and Night Sky Moon Lady

Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball, 2015, night two - my second year attending. I wish I had better pictures of this costume and wig, but the lighting that night did not work in our favor. I made Katy's pirate ship wig (see Fabrication and Paint page for another view) and I augmented the dress she was wearing with lots and lots of tulle. I also made my LED constellation skirt (with tree silhouettes painted around the bottom, though it's hard to see) and I made the light-up crescent moon fascinator on my wig.

  13. Pirate Ship Wig Lady and her pet Monkey

I made Katy's pirate ship wig (see Fabrication and Paint page for another view) and I augmented the dress she was wearin with lots and lots of tulle.

  14. Steampunk Pirate and Journalist

Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball, 2015, night one. We'd been told that Friday night at LOJ was "Steampunk Night," so we tailored our outfits accordingly. my eye was gashed up with fake blood under that funky patch! I also made Bryan's top hat and feather pens! For another view of our jaunty hats, visit my Fabrication and Paint Page.

  15. Undersea Creatures

Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball 2013 - our first year attending. I had no idea what to expect, but I had so much fun (despite having an abcessed tooth!) I repurposed a bridesmaid dress and an old wig by sewing all sorts of sea do-dads and LED lights into them. Bryan had a custom mask and wrist pieces made (by Upon A Midnight Creations, check them out!) and I sourced the rest of his outfit. My makeup was lackluster but creepy enough.

It came from the depths ...
